Our exhibition and events season is now in full swing, and this time it’s our resident artist Steve Allen’s turn. Steve Allen is The Gardens Artist in Residence and a valued member of the creative team at Spetchley. This year Steve has joined forces with the amazing Rossie Henderson=Beg. Their series of exhibitions starts with their gala opening night on the 13th of June.
As you may have seen last year, Steve creates large, bespoke, vibrant statement pieces of modern abstract art. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind item that will take pride of place in any home. You can see some of his work on show in our café currently.
Rossie is a Bristol-based oceanic abstract artist and her aim is to bring wonder and beauty into homes and public spaces, hoping my artworks inspire people to see beyond the ordinary and find deeper connections with themselves and the world.
Creations From A Cotswold Studio was started by Steve Allen purely out of a love of painting with radiant colours. Steve is a self-taught contemporary artist and has been painting for more than 20 years.
Steve said “Colour makes me smile and painting is my passion, it really is the oxygen to my creative lungs. Though the subject matter in my work may vary immensely, colour remains its constant theme. I value colour for its powerful effects on the psyche and employ it to impart a visceral emotion which will change a mood”.
All his paintings are bright, vivid and most importantly eye-catching centre pieces. There studio carries out bespoke commissions for luxury homes, hotels and restaurants, legal chambers and corporate boardrooms.
They work in many different styles including post-modernism, reverse negative, colour segmentation, shadow, leaf, and their most distinctive, vibrant expressionism. Taking their inspiration from greats like Mondrian, Pollock and the lesser known but equally skilled Simon Bull from California.
“Painting is poetry that is seen instead of felt and poetry is a painting that is felt instead of seen.”
– Leonardo da Vinci
